The University of Oxford & the Oxford Foundation School (HETV) – 12-month Academic Foundation Year 2 Programme (2025-2026)
We are seeking to appoint three suitable candidates to these innovative one-year integrated Academic Foundation Programmes. The posts will be based in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. These posts are exclusively available to trainees currently undertaking their F1 Foundation training within the Oxford Foundation School. They are aimed at trainees who would like the opportunity to work in an academic environment or who are already keen to pursue an academic career path. These rotations will deliver opportunities to acquire the core competencies of Foundation training enhanced by a 4-month academic block. The clinical specialties vary each year subject to the availability of posts. Each rotation will always include a 4-month academic block.

Guidance
In previous years this has been a highly competitive process with a competition ratio of >10:1.
Successful candidates have differentiated themselves by success in relation to the academic opportunity available to them (e.g. degree class, prizes, number and quality of academic outputs) and have displayed a clear view of how their potential academic time would be employed. Those not able to evidence this are highly unlikely to be competitive.
Application Process
Interested candidates should complete and submit the application form (see link below). Shortlisting will be carried out by senior clinical and academic staff.
Candidates should ensure that they follow the instructions carefully especially when answering the questions.

Applications received after 12pm will NOT be accepted.
Shortlisting
All applications will be shortlisted by senior clinical and academic staff.
Members of the Shortlisting Panel will not have access to the personal details or programme preference sections of your application form.
Interviews
All applicants will be contacted by email to confirm the application outcomes.
Interviews will be held online on Friday 2nd May 2025. Please ensure that you are available to attend on this day. NO alternative interview dates are available. All interviews will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams. Interview details will be sent by email to those shortlisted for interview.
Application Outcomes
All applicants will be notified of the results of their application. Once the process is completed applicants will be contacted by email with one of three outcomes:
- An offer of a programme
- Notification that they are on the reserve list
- Notification that they have not been successful
Applicants will not be advised of their position on the reserve list. We are unable to provide any detailed feedback to individual applicants.
Matching to Programmes
Successful applicants will be matched to a specific programme based on their interview score and preferences. ie applicants with the highest interview scores will be matched to their preferences first.
